The Digital Video Broadcasting - Second Generation (DVB-S2), developed in 2003, is a digital TV broadcast standard that has been designed as a successor for the popular DVB-S (First Generation) system. The DVB-S2 improves the first generation Digital Video Broadcasting standard, as it is based on the electronic news gathering system and usually used by mobile platforms for sending images and sounds from various remote locations from all over the world - back to their home television stations.
The DVB-S2 standard has led to higher television standards known to us today, such as HDTV, different internet services and data and content distribution methods.
